Circle of Life Science

The Circle of Life Science project brings together healthcare, research, and startups to accelerate innovation where it’s needed most. By building clear frameworks and collaboration arenas with institutions like Karolinska University Hospital, the initiative strengthens the region’s innovation ecosystem and supports the shift toward smarter, more patient-centred care. It helps promising solutions move from idea to implementation, benefiting both healthcare providers and the people they serve.

Innovation arenas with regulatory frameworks

The Circle of Life Science program is dedicated to catalyzing innovation in healthcare. It endeavours to forge partnerships between pioneering startups and esteemed healthcare institutions such as Karolinska University Hospital.

Our primary objective? To invigorate the startup landscape in Stockholm with robust collaborations and to yield tangible benefits for institutions like Karolinska University Hospital, as well as other healthcare stakeholders in the region. This mission is underpinned by a commitment to digital transformation and the prioritisation of patient-centric care within the comfort of their homes.

Furthermore, we are facilitating approximately 70 startups affiliated with us at Sting and KI Innovations to develop products and services in collaborative ventures with healthcare authorities. We will also extend this invitation to companies beyond the startup sphere that harbour innovative potential.

Collaboration with startups to promote healthcare innovation

During the program's first three months, a program declaration has been developed to clarify the working methods, focus, and goals of the program. The program declaration also illustrates how collaboration can occur to produce results that strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the region in the field of health care.

Several initiatives have taken place during the programme so far. For example:

1. An innovation-driven demand process from Pediatric Care (SABH) at Karolinska Hospital,
which resulted in multiple medtech companies engaging in a joint problem-solving session with the hospital staff.

2. A Team and Talent workshop series for medtech startups, focused on building strong teams and company culture.

3. A Testdrive Health programme consisting of four workshops designed to inspire and guide early-stage innovators and startups on what it takes to build a successful company.

4. Preparations for an AI Health Hackathon at the end of November, where healthcare professionals and tech developers will meet over a weekend to co-create solutions to real healthcare challenges.
